If you’re new to social media and have been wondering what all these social media apps are for, then you’ve come to the right place! All the social media apps that are still new to many people will be outlined in this post. We’ll also provide an explanation about why these particular apps have risen in popularity in recent years. Social media has taken over our lives with sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube being such relatively new additions to our everyday lives. However, it’s not always easy to keep up with all the different options out there.

Facebook:

Facebook itself is an important part of our lives. It’s a social media app where you can keep in touch with your friends and family, share stories, photos and videos, and more. Originally launched in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, one of the co-founders of Facebook was not exactly confident as to what the future would have in store for the new site. He said that “Facebook is just a social network, it’s not going to be huge.” However, he did say that “Facebook doesn’t need to be huge to be useful” because they wanted their site to become ubiquitous (the site is now pretty much used by everyone).

YouTube:

YouTube is a video platform that has been around since 2005. You can find all kinds of videos on the site, from music videos to DIY tutorials and more. Some of the most famous users on YouTube are PewDiePie, Nigahiga, and Lilly Singh.

Instagram:

In 2010, Instagram was launched by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger as a way for people to share photos with friends and family. It’s now one of the most popular social networks for sharing photos and videos. You can even share your location using Instagram’s “Location Sharing” feature which allows you to add a location pin (like pins on Pinterest) to your posts in order to keep followers informed about where they can find you in real life. Imaging makes it easy to download photos and videos from Instagram.

WhatsApp:

WhatsApp is a messaging service social media app that was launched in 2009. It’s totally free to use and its reach is pretty much the world over.WhatsApp has changed a lot since its inception with new features, theming options, logos, and more. As with any social network, there are some differences between how WhatsApp differs from other networks, including the way you send voice messages through Whatsapp (fewer features compared to Snapchat) and not being able to invite friends who aren’t on WhatsApp themselves (you can add them, but they won’t be able to view your messages).

Snapchat:

Snapchat was launched in 2011 by Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy who were both students at Stanford University at the time.

Facebook Messenger:

This is a messaging app for iPhone and Android phones. It’s a perfect replacement for texting because you can have conversations with all of your friends in one single place. Plus, it has lots of other cool features like being able to attach pictures or videos to messages, add stickers, or send voice clips. If you have an iPhone or an Android phone and want to have the best messaging experience possible — you should really download Facebook Messenger.

WeChat:

WeChat is a messaging app for iPhones and Android phones. It has features similar to Facebook Messenger, like being able to send voice clips, pictures, or videos. You can also add stickers to your messages and have group conversations with lots of people.

TikTok:

Most people know about TikTok because it’s a popular video app for music lovers.

It lets you record short videos and posts them to your feed so others can see them.

We can’t exactly call it “instant messaging”, but you can talk to your friends in between their videos. This is a really cool way of sending messages because there are lots of fun filters and creative ways to edit your videos.
